Bursting the myth of NOW Consumer! There is nothing called as now consumer, these are just jargons which confuses corporates in the business of selling (read RETAIL) .We all are consumers period , be it from consuming news , information , products or services . But the most important factor is we Decide when and what! It would be foolishness to predict as to what and when we are going to consume and then target information regarding the same.
Come on people are we 3 year old kids that we need to get hammered with information that I don’t want or need. Lets face it; the people we see using their smart phone device to look at the best deals and offers are just testing their hand held or enjoying playing with it ( it works! ) well theses smartphone-wielding consumers standing in store aisles using apps such as eBay’s Red Laser, Amazon’s Price Check and Google Shopper to download coupons or scan barcodes to identify which retailer is offering the lowest price on an item. Surprise, surprise ! they have found they can save few bucks by going to a down town retail which is selling the same but the size and colour is not what you want and you have to spent more in the gas bills to reach there. Wow The information is really helpful isn’t it
Consumers consumes what they consume because they have already decided where to consume and how to consume. But don’t get me wrong social network and digital platform are one of the best possible way to disseminate information to the right customer but don’t get hyper about doing the same at the last moment or last mile . Please don’t treat customers as morons but as inelegant being. Well the difference between sales and marketing is Marketing’s guys job is to keep the sales of the products to their Key Focused group and Sales guys job is to sell it to all and sundry , So you need to decide what is the purpose of your Communication at social network &Digital platform to market or to sell
Coming to the age old question : what’s the Purpose of what you do and where you do and when you do ! The Main thing will always be the main thing !
